The Public Health Engineering & Water Supply Department (PHE&WS) of Arunachal Pradesh was established following its bifurcation from the Rural Works Department. It is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining water supply and sanitation infrastructure across both rural and urban areas. The department plays a vital role in executing flagship programs like Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), ensuring 100% tap water coverage and improved sanitation. It operates through a structured hierarchy of Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, and Assistant Engineers across multiple zones, circles, and divisions.
